Andrzej Boreyko becomes the Artistic Director and Music Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra from the 2019/2020 season
We are delighted to announce that from 2019/20, Andrzej Boreyko becomes the Artistic Director and Music Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. He has a long and distinguished relationship with the orchestra, which dates back to 2007.
As Artistic Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, he will conduct not only in their subscription series in Warsaw, but he will also participate in all the main Polish Festivals (for example Chopin and his Europe, Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music, Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival).
His first subscription concert as Artistic Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra will be in October 2019 and that season he will also tour to Japan with the orchestra. Prior to that, he will conduct the orchestra in a number of Summer Festivals as Artistic Director Designate in August and September 2019.
Andrzej Boreyko also holds the position of Music Director of Artis—Naples in Florida where, over the past five years, his inspiring leadership has raised the artistic standard and brought a new intensity to the Naples Philharmonic. During his time with the orchestra, Andrzej Boreyko has commissioned several new works including orchestral pieces by Fazıl Say, Giya Kancheli, and Gabriel Prokofiev.
A popular guest conductor with major orchestras across the globe, Boreyko’s future highlights include engagements with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Filarmonica della Scala, Salzburg Mozarteum, Frankfurt Museumsgesellschaft, Dresden Philharmonic, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale RAI, Seattle, Minnesota, Toronto, San Francisco, and Sydney Symphony orchestras.
