Graduated from the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in vocal class of Hanna Michalak, Karolina Makuła has taken part in master classes led by Helmut Deutsch, Eytan Pessen, Tomasz Konieczny, Brenda Hurley, Olga Pasiecznik, Hedwig Fassbender, Tobias Truniger and Antonio Pappano.
Working with Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, she performed as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, The Second Lady in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Jadwiga in Moniuszko's The Haunted Manor. As a participant in the Opera Academy at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw (2017–2019), she took part in a concert alongside Helmut Deutsch and in a Baroque music evening led by Ilia Korol and Matthias Rexroth. She also participated in a concert with the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw in the Witold Lutosławski Studio, where she performed part of Fricka in Wagner’s Das Rheingold (fourth scene) under the baton of Michał Klauza.
Karolina Makuła appeared with the Capella Bydgostiensis Chamber Orchestra at the Pomeranian Philharmonic under the baton of Kai Bumann, where she sang Bach’s cantatas and Magnificat, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Hasse's Miserere in C Minor, and A. Scarlatti's Stabat Mater. She also performed Vivaldi's and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the ensembles Arte Con Brio and Arso Ensemble at the Artur Malawski Philharmonic in Rzeszów.
Karolina Makuła is a laureate of vocal competitions, including the Jan, Edward and Józefina Reszke International Competition (Third prize, Częstochowa 2017), the Chamber Music Competition (First Prize and special prize, Bydgoszcz 2017), and the 24th International Bydgoszcz Opera Festival (First Prize for the role of Cherubino in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro).
Since 2019, she has been a member of the Opernstudio at Oper Frankfurt, where she made her debut as Desdemona in Rossini's Otello. She also appeared in the title role of Bizet's Carmen (Oper für Kinder). In upcoming performances, Karolina Makuła will appear there as Countess Ceprano in Verdi's Rigoletto, Francesca in Inferno by Lucia Ronchetti, Second Lady-in-Waiting in Der Prinz von Homburg by Henze and Curra in Verdi's La forza del destino.
