– that is the theme of this year’s 65th Warsaw Autumn. We work as a team, we join forces to devise, organise and perform together. Connections are constructive.
We come together in defiance of the engineering of social divides. We stand with Ukraine and its creative artists. We present music that is not indifferent to the strug- gles with life’s difficulties and the loneliness caused by everyday life.
In the Warsaw Philharmonic’s Concert Hall, the music will be symphonic; in the inaugural concert, with the participation of soloists, Sinfonia Varsovia and the New Music Orchestra under the baton of Szymon Bywalec, we will hear Gérard Grisey’s complete Les Espaces acoustiques (16.09). In the final concert, soloists will join the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Vimbayi Kaziboni in giving the first performances of works by Francesco Filidei, Sam Pluta, Alla Zagaykevych and Rafał Ryterski (24.09). A huge role will be played in the festival by chamber music, including in the ‘Chamber Music Marathon’, where a dozen or so ensembles will come together at the ATM Studio (18.09).
The 65th Warsaw Autumn comprises more than 40 events on the main programme, Warsaw Autumn Hits the Club and Little Warsaw Autumn, with concerts, installa- tions, meetings with composers and composition workshops. More than 20 ensem- bles from around the world will be appearing, among them EWCM, Leopoldinum, BIT20, Spółdzielnia Muzyczna, Ensemble for New Music Tallinn, Talea, Schallfeld, Tempo Reale, Kwartludium, proMODERN, Kwadrofonik, Radical Polish Arkestra and Ulysses Percussion Ensemble, with the participation of musicians from Percussions de Strasbourg. The conductors and music directors present at the festival will include Rüdiger Bohn, Leonhard Garms, Christian Danowicz, Lillianna Krych, Rémi Schwartz, Arash Yazdani and Hubert Zemler. Among the soloists, we will be hearing Michał Sławecki, Adam Kośmieja, Rafał Zalech, Rafał Łuc and Małgorzata Walentynowicz.
Commissioned works include joint commissions with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Warsaw Philharmonic, Ulysses network festivals and Milano Musica.
