libretto: Malina Sarnowska
music: Vlasta Traczyk
direction and scenography: Kamila Straszyńska

Do you know the Basilisk? It’s a creature living beneath a tenement house in the Old Town that turned everyone to stone with its gaze until the moment when it saw its own reflection in a mirror and turned to stone itself. A descendant of Basilisk, whose already softer eyesight allowed him to perceive the details of Warsaw’s beauty, he longed to paint and became a disciple of the famous painter Canaletto, from whom he also learned the operation of the camera obscura device. Could we meet the Basilisk today, walking through the Old Town on a Sunday afternoon? It’s hard to say, but just in case, bring a smartphone with you, to take a selfie with it.
