Born in Germany, Eva Vogel studied at the Mannes College of Music in New York (BA) and at Yale University (MA). She also trained under Christa Ludwig and Brigitte Fassbaender. She was a member of the Internationale Opernstudio der Oper Köln and later became a soloist at opera houses in Düsseldorf and Innsbruck.
She has performed at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, Grand Théâtre de Geneve, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Philharmonie Berlin, Wiener Musikverein, Teatro Massimo Vittorio Emanuele in Palermo and Royal Opera House – Covent Garden in London. She has participated in the staging of numerous operas by Richard Wagner at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and the Osterfestspiele Salzburg.
Eva Vogel has worked with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Kent Nagano, Andrew Manze, Ivor Bolton, Pietari Inkinen, Axel Kober, Jonathan Nott, Juraj Valčuha, Edo de Waart and Ingo Metzmacher.
Recently, she has participated in performances of Gustav Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde (NDR Radiophilharmonie, cond. Andrew Manze), Hector Berlioz’s Les nuits d'été (Tonkünstler-Orchester, cond. Ivor Bolton), Ludwig van Beethoven’s Missa solemnis (Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai, cond. Juraj Valčuha), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem (cond. John Axelrod), Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 (Berliner Philharmoniker, cond. Sir Simon Rattle) and in concert tours (Paris, Vienna, New York, Taipei and Tokyo) as well as in operas: Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (cond. Asher Fisch), Wagner’s Das Rheingold and Die Walküre (Bayerisches Staatsorchester, cond. Sir Simon Rattle) and the Berlin premiere of Jonathan Dove’s The Monster in the Maze.
In the current season, she performs, among others, with Concerto Köln (cond. Kent Nagano) in the art-historical project Das Rheingold / Der Ring des Nibelungen in many European cities (Dresden, Cologne, Amsterdam, Ravello, Lucerne). She will present Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde at the Copenhagen Phil (cond. Toshiyuki Kamioka) and the Belgrade Philharmonic (cond. Daniel Raiskin), and will sing the solo part in Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem with the Bremer Philharmoniker (cond. Hansjörg Albrecht) as well as recitals at the Klavier-Festival Ruhr and the Westfälisches Musikfestival Hamm.
