Jerzy Butryn
In the 2024/2025 season, Polish bass Jerzy Butryn will make his Salzburg Festival debut as Totzki in Mieczysław Weinberg’s The Idiot. He will also perform as Timur Giacomo Puccini’s opera Turandot at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Teatro Massimo Palermo, Sarastro in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw, and Mephistopheles in Charles Gounod’s Faust at the National Theatre in Prague.
His recent performances include Il Commendatore in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Glyndebourne Festival, the title role in Arrigo Boito’s Mephistophele at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and National Theatre in Prague, and Colline in Puccini’s La Boheme at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw.
Previously, he has appeared at theatres such as the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Teatro Regio di Parma, the Wrocław Opera House, the St. Gallen Festival, performing roles such as Four Villains in Jacques Offenbach’s Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Raimondo in Gaetano Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, and Escamillo in Georges Bizet’s Carmen, among others.
