The Polish Music Scene is a programme of music organised by the National Institute of Music and Dance in collaboration with the Warsaw Philharmonic and financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. We present Polish artists and Polish compositions – particularly works not often performed. We wish to promote the performance of Polish music, inspire musicians to turn to this repertoire and generate interest among audiences in Polish musical output as broadly understood. The programme is open to instrumentalists and singers, soloists and chamber ensembles. The programmes featuring Polish music, selected via a competition, will be performed in the Chamber Music Hall of the Warsaw Philharmonic and at other concert venues around Poland.

Co-organised by the National Institute of Music and Dance as part of the Polish Music Scene programme, financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Gabriel Czopka

He began learning to play the French horn at the age of sixteen under the guidance of his father, Czesław Czopka, at the Stanisław Moniuszko Primary and Secondary Music School in Wałbrzych. In 2011, he completed his master’s degree at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław in Adam Wolny’s class. During his studies, he also honed his skills in Jacek Muzyk’s class in Buffalo.

In 2009, he was accepted into the Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra; he subsequently served as principal horn of the Jerzy Semkow Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, and since 2010 has been a soloist with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, during the 2015/2016 season, he was a contract horn player with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a member of the Hornet Quartet, with whom he performs at festivals in Poland and abroad. This season, the ensemble appeared at the Warsaw Philharmonic as part of the Polish Music Scene series. In the 2024/2025 season, Gabriel Czopka performed at the Warsaw Philharmonic in a chamber music programme alongside outstanding Polish and international soloists. The artist gives private lessons during the Teremiski Horn Camp music courses and at the CORNO Brass Music Festival in Zielona Góra, the largest international brass instrument festival in this part of Europe.
