Gabriel Czopka
He began learning to play the French horn at the age of sixteen under the guidance of his father, Czesław Czopka, at the Stanisław Moniuszko Primary and Secondary Music School in Wałbrzych. In 2011, he completed his master’s degree at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław in Adam Wolny’s class. During his studies, he also honed his skills in Jacek Muzyk’s class in Buffalo.
In 2009, he was accepted into the Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra; he subsequently served as principal horn of the Jerzy Semkow Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, and since 2010 has been a soloist with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, during the 2015/2016 season, he was a contract horn player with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a member of the Hornet Quartet, with whom he performs at festivals in Poland and abroad. This season, the ensemble appeared at the Warsaw Philharmonic as part of the Polish Music Scene series. In the 2024/2025 season, Gabriel Czopka performed at the Warsaw Philharmonic in a chamber music programme alongside outstanding Polish and international soloists. The artist gives private lessons during the Teremiski Horn Camp music courses and at the CORNO Brass Music Festival in Zielona Góra, the largest international brass instrument festival in this part of Europe.
