Stefan Plewniak
Conductor, violinist and music producer. Principal conductor of the Orchestre de l’Opéra Royale Versailles and former music director of Warsaw Chamber Opera. Founder and music director of Il Giardino d’Amore, Cappella dell’Ospedale della Pieta Venezia and The FeelHarmony Symphony Orchestra. He also works with the NOR59 String Institute in Oslo.
Founded at his initiative was Ëvoe Records, the releases of which include an album of music by Antonio Vivaldi, Carnevale di Venezia (2016), featuring Natalia Kawałek, Jakub Józef Orliński and Miriam Albano and Cappella dell’Ospedale della Pieta Venezia (cond. Stefan Plewniak).
In 2021, with the Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal Versailles, Stefan Plewniak has recorded several discs, including Niccolo Antonio Zingarelli’s Giulietta e Romeo, Les 3 contre-ténors: le concours de virtuosité des castrats (Valer Sabadus, Filippo Mineccia and Samuel Marino) and Vivaldi’s 12 Concerti di Parigi. In the same year, he recorded a disc with Jean-Marie Leclair’s opera Scylla et Glaucus, featuring such soloists as Mathias Vidal, Chiara Skerath, Florie Valiquette, Victor Sicard, Cécile Achille and Lili Aymonino (with the orchestra and choir of Il Giardino d’Amore). He has also released an album of Polish music, The Heart of Europe.
In recent years, Stefan Plewniak has conducted such operas as Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Castor et Pollux, Christoph Willibald Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice (Warsaw Chamber Opera), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (Opera Studio in Oslo) and Georges Bizet’s Carmen, on a tour of Norway.
He has appeared in numerous festivals, including the 29th International Mozart Festival in Warsaw, Mayshad Festival in Marrakech and Actus Humanus in Gdańsk. In the 2016/2017 season he toured China with Il Giardino d'Amore (Beijing, Wuhan).
As a soloist and concertmaster, he has been admired in many music centres, including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He gives violin master classes in the United States (Chicago, New York, San Diego) and Norway.
