Kamil Zdebel
A graduate of Jan Ballarin’s class at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice (2013), Kamil Zdebel has taken part in vocal courses given by Wiesław Ochman, Daniel Weeks and Ryszard Karczykowski.
He made his debut on the stage of Gliwice Music Theatre in a production of Franz Léhar’s The Merry Widow, in the role of Cascada. He is currently a soloist with the Silesian Opera in Bytom, where his repertoire includes the parts of Ottokar in Johann Strauss the Son’s operetta Der Zigeunerbaron, Freddy in Frederick Loewe’s My Fair Lady, Le Dancair, Morales and Escamillo in George Bizet’s Carmen, Schaunard and Marcello in Giacomo Puccini’s La boheme, the titular role in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni, Falke and Eisenstein in Johann Strauss the Son’s Die Fledermaus, the titular role in Maury Yeston’s Phantom, Janusz in Stanisław Moniuszko’s Halka and Stanisław in the same composer’s Verbum Nobile, the fifth boor in Krzysztof Penderecki’s Ubu Rex, Count Danilo in Léhar’s The Merry Widow, Fra Melitone and Alcalde in Giuseppe Verdi’s La forza del destino, Mercutio and Paris in Charles Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Yamadori in Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, Nardo in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera, Don Curzio in Józef Michał Ksawery Poniatowski’s Don Desiderio and Belcore in Gaetano Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore.
In June 2018, he made his debut at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw (Morales in Carmen). His first appearance as Jontek (Halka) came at the Warsaw Chamber Opera, where in 2021 he took part in the Polish premiere of Jean-Philippe Rameau’s opera Castor et Pollux (as Pollux). He began the year 2022 by making his debut as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera.
Kamil Zdebel has worked with the philharmonic orchestras of Silesia, Zabrze, Warmia-Masuria, Częstochowa and Pomerania. He has taken part in Roger Moreno-Rathgeb’s Requiem for Auschwitz under the baton of Riccardo Sahiti, a recording of Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz’s Pieśni Doliny Jozafata [Songs of the Valley of Josephat] conducted by Ewa Strusińska, and also in the first performance of Krzysztof Herdzin’s Requiem under the composer’s baton, recorded at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in June 2022.
