Paweł Kapuła
Hailed by Polish Radio as “a real hope for Polish conducting”, Paweł Kapuła is one of the finest conductors of the younger generation, acclaimed for his exciting, fresh, and highly captivating interpretations coupled with an excellent conducting technique. Since his highly acclaimed debut with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra in 2016, when he stepped in for Stanisław Skrowaczewski, he has conducted all the major orchestras in Poland.
Among the highlights of Paweł Kapuła’s current season are engagements with the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, Brandenburger Symphoniker, Georgisches Kammerorchester, “Transylvania” State Philharmonic Orchestra of Cluj-Napoca, Filarmonica de Stat Sibiu and returns to many Polish philharmonic orchestras, including the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Polish Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Krakow. This season, highlights also include a collaboration with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the American pianist Reed Tetzloff and film director Paul Carasco to film and record all five Beethoven Piano Concertos as well as Paweł Kapuła’s continued championing of neglected Polish composers in numerous recordings with Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw.
In February 2021, Paweł Kapuła was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Igancy Jan Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz. For three consecutive seasons, in the years 2016–2019, he worked as Assistant Conductor at the Warsaw Philharmonic to its Music Director Jacek Kaspszyk. He was also Assistant to Andrzej Boreyko at the Belgian National Orchestra (2016). He appeared in festivals such as La Folle Journée in Warsaw, Probaltica in Toruń and Bydgoszcz Music Festival.
Paweł Kapuła studied symphonic-operatic conducting with Tadeusz Strugała and Stanisław Krawczyński at the Academy of Music in Krakow. He was a finalist at the 1st Adam Kopyciński Student Conducting Competition in Wroclaw in 2013 where he also received a distinction award.
