François Leleux
François Leleux, oboist and conductor, is known for his energetic music making. He was the Artist-in-Residence with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in the 2020/2021 season. Described by many as the best oboist of his generation, François Leleux performs regularly as a soloist with renowned orchestras in the world’s leading concert halls, including the New York Philharmonic, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and NHK Symphony Orchestra. His particular interest in contemporary composers let to encounters such as Nicolas Bacri, Thierry Pécou, Gilles Silvestrini, Éric Tanguy, Thierry Escaich, Giya Kancheli, Michael Jarrell, James MacMillan and Albert Schnelzer. François Leleux is a passionate chamber musician and works regularly with Lisa Batiashvili, Éric Le Sage and Emmanuel Strosser.
His discography includes recordings for Sony Classical with works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Richard Strauss, Domenico Cimarosa, Vincenzo Bellini, Alessandro Marcello, Antonio Vivaldi, Christoph Willibald Gluck, Joseph Haydn and Johann Nepomuk Hummel.
