In what has already become a wonderful tradition, every concert season, the Warsaw Philharmonic invites the graduates of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music to perform on its stage. These two institutions, together with the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, are the most important venues on the capital’s musical map, and the need for them to maintain close links is evident and only natural – after all, many of the musicians of the Philharmonic ensembles – orchestra and choir – are alumni and sometimes also members of the faculty of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. For young musicians to perform at the Philharmonic is a prestigious honour, and often the first important step in their artistic careers – many of them will most certainly make a triumphant return here one day. These concerts are also an opportunity for musicians to present an original programme, including the works of young composers.
